At London Luton, passenger numbers dropped by two-thirds

In September, a total of 575,000 passengers flew via London Luton Airport, a 66 per cent decrease compared to the same time last year.

The airport has taken measures to ensure that, for both workers and passengers, the airport remains a safe and secure environment.

This includes the implementation of new terminal steps, including better cleaning and protective screen installation, to hand sanitiser stations and the need to wear face covers.

The airport also retains an emphasis in this difficult time on customer service.

Alberto Martin, Chief Executive Officer of London Luton Airport, said: "I am extremely proud of all London Luton employees for continuing to provide a high level of customer care and service, even during these difficult times."

Nevertheless, while we have seen some rebound in passenger numbers over the summer months, it has been short-lived, with numbers starting to fall again.

"I welcome the formation of a new government travel task force, but urge them to work closely with industry to eliminate the need for self-isolation with testing quickly and safely."
